ICE memo on prosecutorial discretion

The ICE prosecutorial discretion memo and processing guidance

ICE MEMO 2

Federal officials should consider dismissing pending immigration cases involving certain groups of illegal immigrants – including children, college students, the elderly and victims of domestic violence – according to new Homeland Security guidelines issued Thursday.

A memo laying out the guidelines, obtained by the Houston Chronicle, offers a clearer picture of the groups of immigrants who would benefit from the Obama administration’s much-publicized plan to review 300,000 pending cases in immigration courts.

More on the story by the Chronicle’s Susan Carroll here.

  1. Here we go...Obama's stirring the pot now by not letting the illegal aliens be deported back to Mexico, which is an illegal action in itself...so, why is this being allowed? Obama is only the president, and is not above the law, no matter what he seems to think...and to let him get away with this makes our justice department just as culpable as he is by allowing our laws to be ignored for the convenience of our very own president's personal desires. It would not be the first time, and I'm sure it won't be the last, as Obama still has too much time left in office and can still do any number of things that will be detrimental to our country. In the grand scheme of things, he has caused enough damage to our economy that it will take many years to undo the damage that he, with the aid and approval of his political party, has done.
